Research into 3D modelling for surgical planning

Kidney Cancer UK have partnered with five leading UK kidney cancer centres, the Royal Free Hospital, Guy’s Hospital, Frimley Park Hospital and Sheffield University Teaching Hospitals and Innersight Labs to carry out novel research into 3D modelling for surgical planning.
The National Institute of Health Research have funded these project partners to carry out a randomised controlled trial to investigate whether Virtual 3D models of the patient’s anatomy can benefit kidney cancer surgery.

Innersight Labs (innersightlabs.com) is a medical technology company that will be generating the 3D models as part of this trial. 
The 3D modelling benefits are:

1. Provides a detailed roadmap for the surgeon to devise the optimal treatment and surgical plan.
2. Helps patients to understand the surgical procedure? (We need your help with this)

It is very important to gather patients’ and the public’s view on this research and understand whether patients would like to view a 3D model of their kidney and tumour as part of the consultation process.
