London and South East Kidney Cancer Information Day – 7 October 2015

by | Sep 28, 2015 | Events News

Every year in the UK, over 9,000 people learn that they have kidney cancer. The incidence of kidney cancer is slowly increasing in the UK, possibly due to an increase in the number of cases detected when a patient has a scan for an unrelated condition. This is because scans are performed more frequently in hospitals and there have been huge improvements in scanning technology over the past 30 years. Kidney cancer is now the sixth most common type of cancer in men and ninth among women in the UK.

The London and South East Kidney Cancer Information Day will inform, support and raise awareness of the disease through a series of carefully chosen presentations from practicing health professionals specialising in kidney cancer through to patients sharing their experiences.
The agenda features informative talks on current treatments of kidney cancer from highly respected oncologists, pharmacists and nurses from the field of renal oncology. There will be talks on the management of side effects, treatment available for kidney cancer, information on what are clinical trials, patients sharing their kidney cancer journey, information from a leading psychologist on how to manage a cancer diagnosis and general help and support advice relating to all areas of living with kidney cancer.
