Every year, more than half a million people help the NHS improve healthcare and develop life-saving treatments by taking part in clinical trials.
Funded Research
Kidney Cancer UK are currently funding a number of research projects though grants and third party donation.
Peer Review
Every funding application is subject to our rigorous and unbiased Peer Review Process. Once your funding application has been agreed in principle we pass the details to our Peer Review Panel. The members of this panel come from a wide range of areas and will include, but not be limited to, medical and business professionals and patient representatives. We want to ensure we are as transparent as possible in all areas of our funding, be it medical research or grant support to patients.
Research Funding
Do you have a research programme you need funding or have a programme running that need further support? Read below about our process and how Kidney Cancer UK might be able to help.
Research & Clincal Trials
Research into the biological mechanisms underlying kidney cancer is vital if progress in developing new treatments is to be made. Our kidney cancer research section gathers together our knowledge in this important area
Patient Surveys
In 2014, we carried out our first research study titled ‘Kidney Cancer Journey‘ to review the level of health services for kidney cancer patients. This survey helped us to better understand the process of diagnosis of kidney cancer and identify areas where the process can be improved to ensure an earlier diagnosis of the disease. Kidney Cancer UK now run an annual patient survey to further build our understanding in this area.
Introduction to Clinical Trials
Understanding what a clinical trial is and what is involved if you might join one can be daunting so we have unravelled the complexities for you below.
Professional Training and Research
Research and professional training are of importance to Kidney Cancer UK. Our work in these areas can directly help patients by: contributing to the development of new treatments, helping patients be involved in research and clinical trials; improving the kidney cancer knowledge of health professionals and providing a voice for patients about the treatment and care that receive via our own surveys.
