Welcome to our Kidney Cancer UK Patient Survey 2018

CLOSING 9TH SEPTEMBER 2018 23:55

Kidney Cancer UK and Kidney Cancer Scotland are proud to present our fifth annual kidney cancer survey which focuses exclusively on patients in the United Kingdom. The answers from your completed survey could influence the way patients are treated through government legislation and in the NHS across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. It will most certainly help us deliver our service and support to you and your loved ones in the best and most efficient way possible.
To go straight to the survey, please click here or click the image below and a new window will open to the 2018 Kidney Cancer Patient Survey. Please ensure you click every ‘ok’ and at the end of the survey ‘Click to Complete Survey’ to ensure your survey is closed off and your answers count.
We thank you for your time, it is much appreciated by us , fellow kidney cancer patients, carers and their families we seek to help though its findings.
Why do we need your support by you completing this survey? Because kidney cancer is a silent killer and for many the first time they hear those words are from their doctor then they ask, ‘what is kidney cancer?’. We have to raise awareness and ensure people are aware and look for the symptoms: persistent cough, a lump or pain in your flank, traces of blood in your urine and get checked before it’s too late.
The facts are;

  • In 2015, kidney cancer was the 7th most common cancer in adults in the UK
  • there were around 12,600 new cases of kidney cancer in the UK in 2015, that’s 34 cases diagnosed every day.
  • There were 4,500 kidney cancer deaths in the UK in 2014- 2016, that’s 12 deaths every day; this accounts for about 3% of all cancer deaths in the UK.
  • In UK men, it is the sixth most common cancer, with 7,900 cases diagnosed in 2015, and in UK women it ranked tenth most common cancer, with around 4,600 cases diagnosed in 2015.
  • It has been estimated that the lifetime risk of developing kidney cancer is 1 in 52 men and 1 in 87 women will be diagnosed with kidney cancer during their lifetime

The incidence of kidney cancer have been steadily increasing in the UK, mainly attributed to lifestyle factors, such as obesity and smoking.
In addition, an increase in the number of tumours detected when a patient has a scan for an unrelated condition may have contributed to the rise in the number of cases.
This is the only exclusively UK focused kidney cancer survey.
Thank you for your support.
